At Kafe For Kids™ we are committed to justice and equal opportunity for everyone. Our partnership with ONEbean Coffee Company is our way of making a difference right here and around the world.

In June of 2009, the Ministry of Healthy Living And Sports eliminated it’s funding to schools for athletic programs at a time when league, referee and tournament expenses continue to climb (up 100% in the last five years). Athletic budgets have been frozen at our school and around the province and volunteers are harder to find. Yet, we still want to provide opportunities for students to participate in sports throughout their schooling career. We believe providing funding for BC School Sports will accomplish many things including:

Heightened awareness of team and goal setting
Positive role modeling and mentoring through good coaching
Increased self-esteem
Development of the leadership skills richly sought after in post-secondary situations
Increased opportunities for college/university scholarships
Fitness opportunities for BC Students
Liability Insurance for players, coaches and volunteers
Maintenance of competitive balance through athlete eligibility rules and regulations

Our next big project is even more ambitious than our first and includes the construction of a three classroom school and support space for secondary students in Kabala, Sierra Leone. We will also be buiding a guest-house / rental unit where volunteers can stay and where the school can earn rental income to help cover the cost of operations. We also want to provide volunteering opportunities so that students and teachers from BC can give of their time and experience the wonder of Sierra Leone.
